- From the Songwriter: As a general rule, precision with the “notes on the page” is less important than the groove and feel of the song. Feel free to embellish or flesh out the tune as you see fit, the harmonic structure is what’s key, just don’t compromise the intention of the music. I’m much more of a stickler about lyrics and the acting of a song. Be musically precise but put your own stamp on it, let musical choice making come from your acting, not the other way around. Accompanists shouldn’t be nitpickers here either (not to offend) – use your musical know-how but whatever you do, please don’t be Protestant with my music. I can’t wait to hear you, and I’m eternally grateful for your time and creative efforts in advance.
